Xbox 360: Annexing the Hearts of Young Game Lovers


The new Xbox 360 video game console coming from Microsoft comes out with an aim of annexing the hearts of young game lovers around the globe. The new model console comes with the facility to download arcade games and content such as game demos, trailers, TV shows, music videos, or rented movies. The Xbox 360 is the successor to the Xbox that created a record in the gaming history and is in competition with the opponents like PlayStation 3 from Sony and Wii from Nintendo and other seventh generation gaming systems.
Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox 360 on MTV on May 12, 2005 with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The Xbox 360 enjoys the credit of being the first console to provide a near-simultaneous launch across the three major regions. It also tastes the credit of being the first name to provide wireless controller support at launch. The Xbox console succeeded in making a record sale of 13.4 million units worldwide by September 30, 2007.
The Xbox 360 gaming console got launched in the U.S. on November 22, 2005 and in Canada on December 2, 2005 in Europe on December 10, 2005. Microsoft launched the console in 36 countries with in a year creating a history, as no other console has been launched in such a large number of countries in a single year. It even marginalised the sale of Sony and Nintendo, its rivals in the market.
In the beginning, the Xbox 360 was available in two configurations: the "Xbox 360" package, priced at $399, and the "Xbox 360 Core", priced at US$299. The Xbox 360 from Microsoft supports videos in wmv-format, as well as high-definition .wmv-videos, , and Playsforsure WMV videos. The gaming console also supports audio playback, with music player controls accessible through the Xbox 360 Guide button. It is possible for the users to play back their own music while playing games.
